Warpage Analysis and Control of Thin-Walled Structures Manufactured by Laser Powder Bed Fusion

Thin-walled structures are of great interest because their use as lightweight components in aeronautical and aerospace engineering. The fabrication these by additive manufacturing (AM) often produces undesired warpage the thermal stresses induced process components’ reduced structural stiffness. objective this study is to analyze distortion several thin-walled fabricated Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF). Experiments performed investigate sensitivity LPBF different design parameters such wall thickness component height open closed shapes. A 3D-scanner used measure residual distortions terms out-of-plane displacement. Moreover, an in-house finite element software firstly calibrated then enhance original order minimize printing process. outcome shows that geometries more prone warping than ones, well how vertical stiffeners can mitigate increasing
